If you suspect that a unit is in need of repair, call for a technical support member (at 800-783-8105) to verify functionality of the unit. Then HCI will require the serial and model numbers of the product to issue an RMA. Send the unit to us, and we will repair, test, and ship the unit back to you.

Yes, if the Phillips mount uses standard VESA patterns. If not, an adaptor plate might be required.

If the packaging is deemed incorrect, the hospital will be responsible for damages. It is important to keep boxes and packing material for a few of every model.

First, check to make sure the batteries are inserted correctly. Next, set the IR bank on TV to bank 1 (press ch+ and vol+). Then, with the TV on, press and hold power button on the remote for 10 seconds.

Press VOL + and VOL – at the same time to toggle between TV, Pillow, and Both. When “TV” is selected, sound will come from the TV speakers only. When “Pillow” is selected, sound will come from the pillow speaker only. When “Both” is selected, sound will come from both the TV and the pillow speaker.

Using your HCI remote control, press “Function”, the number 0, then 9, 9, 9, 9, then the “Setup” key.

Using your HCI remote control, press “Function”, then press 0-1-5-7-0-9

Setup the IR Bank to IR 3 or 4 with the CH+ and VOL+ buttons. Use Magnavox code with IR 3. Use Apex code with IR 4.

Four total; two for HCI remotes, two for universal remotes.

IR bands one and two will give you the ability to have two televisions in the same room working independently of each other. IR bands three and four will give you the availability for independently working televisions using universal remotes. This gives you the ability to have four televisions within the same area that operate separately.

To replace a front keypad, peel off the keypad which is held on with double sided sticky glue. Using a Phillips head screw driver, remove the access panel behind the keypad. Unplug the two connectors to the keypad. Connect the new keypad, close the access panel, and stick the new keypad to the television.

No because HCI televisions are installed on their own network, using independent servers from the hospital network. Also, HCI Televisions have no non-volatile memory.

A simple small USB flash device will suffice. The flash drive must be formatted as FAT32 to work on HCI TVs.

Yes, however IPTV and Digital televisions cannot be cloned from each other.

First, check to see that the pillow speaker is a working model, then verify what “code” is being used. Currently the choices are: Zenith, RCA, Phillips, Zenith 5volt, 3key, and 1key. You can change what code is being used in the setup menu of our television.

Input Auto Detect means that the television looks for a signal on the selected input, if it cannot find a useable signal, the television will move on to the next input.

Yes, however uploading a clone will only work for the same type and software version.

Yes, you can program station presets in the setup menu.

No, a USB port does not mean a television is IPTV capable.

Sigma can be updated from MediaCare. MStar and Pillow Speaker software cannot be.

If TVs, content and servers and/or hard drives are purchased from HCI at the same time, HCI will load content on servers and hard drives prior to shipment. Subsequent content updates on hard drives and servers are the responsibility of the facility or HCI dealer.

If is possible to control the MediaCare server wirelessly if remote desktop is setup and if the wireless device is setup on the same network.

The maximum depends on the type of media the hospital wants the TV to play. Contact your HCI dealer for further details.

Servers do not need to be physically located at the nurse station. A user can remote desktop to a computer located elsewhere (i.e. IT Dept) in the facility. There can only be one instance of MediaCare running at a time. Therefore, if each nurse station controls a different set of televisions, a separate server for each nurse station is required.

An existing nurse station workstation can remote desktop into a MediaCare server located elsewhere in the hospital. To load MediaCare directly onto an existing workstation, the workstation needs to be running Windows Server 2003.

(Yes, HCI RoomMate IPTVs support a variety of USB wireless (and wired) keyboards and mice when running Thin Client (PC Apps mode). Contact your HCI Sales Representative for a list of approved devices. Not all wireless USB keyboards/ mice work with HCI Televisions. To use a wireless keyboard, plug the USB receiver into one of the TV’s USB ports. Select the “PC Apps” icon. (Make sure your television is configured to work in Thin Client mode and is connected to a thin client server.) Use the keyboard/ mouse as if operating a computer.

No, the MediaCare system runs of an Ethernet backbone.

HCI offers a line of TV 2.9 products with built-in hard drives. Entertainment and Educational content can be stored in the TVs’ internal hard drives, and patients can access these videos on demand using their pillow speaker or HCI remote control.

It can be but is not recommended. The preferred method is a physical server dedicated to MediaCare.

No, we strongly encourage running MediaCare on a separate network, as streaming video over a network requires a great deal of bandwith.

Some other televisions can play media from USB drives. More often than not, USB drives support cloning rather than media playback.

Currently, HCI televisions support Remote Desktop Protocol. We do not currently support Citrix protocols unless the Citrix environment allows for remote desktop protocol.

IPTV, which stands for internet protocol television, allows for televisions to be ip-adressable, and in-turn, networked to a server. HCI IPTVs are capable of streaming media from a server, USB port or internal hard drive. IPTVs can play content such as pictures, music, and movies. IPTVs also have a tuner, like a standard television. Standard digital televisions do not have IPTV capabilities.

HCI’s DVD player is UL-lsited healthcare grade. The HCI remote, as well as HCI overlay pillow speakers, can control the TV and DVD player.

We support 1 button analog, 3 button analog, digital that sends Zenith, RCA, or Philips code.

No, MediaCare is designed to work with HCI televisions.

HCI Televisions offer more features than other hospital-grade televisions. HCI TVs are also made from the ground-up specifically for the healthcare environment.

We do not for this generation of MediaCare. MediaCare 2 will support the HL7 protocol.
